Königsmulde Camp
Between Spada and Senonville north of St. Mihiel, several German military cemeteries were located during wartime, including, near a larger camp complex, the regimental cemetery of the Königlich-Bayerischen Infanterie-Regiments Nr. 10 „König“ (10th Bavarian Infantry Regiment). The unit participated in the engagement near Lamorville in the area of the Spada gap on September 22, 1914. Afterwards, the regiment was deployed there and in the Ailly Forest until June 1916, before it was thrown into the Battle of Verdun.
On the former site of the cemetery, some remains of former gravestones and memorials have been preserved. Thus, a larger slab fragment from the grave of the Leutnants (second lieutenant) Karl Bauer from Ingolstadt can also be found. Leutnant Bauer was leader of the 9th Company. He was killed on an inspection tour on October 25, 1915, in the area of the Spada Forest.
After the end of the war, the cemetery was dissolved and most of those buried there, among them Karl Bauer, were reburied at the central German war cemetery St. Mihiel in the Gobessart Forest.
