Marville – Then and Now
In the area around Marville, brief yet fierce engagements took place in August 1914 between German and French troops during the German advance in the course of the so-called border battles. The town itself was hardly affected. Today, it still retains its beautiful medieval appearance and is well worth a visit.

During the World War, due to its strategically favorable location on several connecting roads between the Reich territory and the front, it also served as quarters for numerous units and command posts.
